Abstract Forest Canopy – Featured Art Prints

I love the look of a forest canopy…the boughs of a tree, creating a ceiling of leaves and the sun peaking through the cracks. On the attached three art prints, I chose to take that view and create an abstract look. Using a technique that creates small geometric shapes to define the subject matter and surreal colors, the final result is a colorful representation of a walk in the forest looking skyward.

The first print keeps with natural colors, but obvious geometric shapes to fill in the subject matter of a tree canopy. The perspective looks skyward, yet with this technique, it creates a more whimsical feel to the scene.

The second print uses the same shape technique, but adds the element of the sun peaking through a canopy of purple branches. The colors add a bold statement pulling the eye into the scene.

The third print really capitalizes on the purple color tones integrating the bold color into a forest scene created with the same abstract shapes.

All three create unique art prints of one of nature’s gifts, the forest canopy. Thoughts?

Hiking in The Pacific Northwest – Featured Art Prints

Anyone that has been following my blog, knows I love hiking. A lot of my work comes from the various hikes I have ventured on. This time of year makes me think of the deep woods, just before the fall colors start appearing in the leaves. One of my favorite hiking spots was a trail very near where we were living in Issaquah, Washington while our house was being built here in the Phoenix area. The trail-head was just a small parking area along the road we lived on. The trail immediately disappears into the woods with the dense forest and undergrowth of the Pacific Northwest. This particular trail had an elevation gain of around 1200 ft and was about 11 to 12 miles round trip. What I loved the most was the diversity of the forest along the trail…around each bend, the scene would change and draw you further in to see what was next. I have attached 7 art prints I have done in an impasto style technique. This style uses bold, thick brush strokes creating a texture to the scene that compliments the setting of the deep forest….enjoy!!

Red Poppies – Featured Art Prints

Today’s featured art prints are very simplistic, yet bold. The two prints are titled “Red Poppies” and “Red Poppy” (talk about a stretch for the names).

There are three basic elements to these prints, each important for the final look. The first element is texture. I created these two prints using a technique with large, bold brush strokes. The second element is the background. Using a dark background allows the flowers to dominate the print. The third element is the color red.  Red is a strong color and creates a bold look. Again, simplistic, yet bold.

Inspirational Thoughts for the Week – Featured Art Prints

Today, I wanted to share a few thoughts with you. Each of us has a story…our successes, loves and struggles. We all know someone at any given time who is struggling and suffering (many times that person is ourself). Sometimes the struggle is self inflicted, sometimes it’s just circumstances. We all encounter challenges as we walk this journey called life. Some challenges are but bumps in the road while others are almost insurmountable mountains. It’s how we handle ourselves as we encounter these struggles that grow us and shape us. The beauty of being a blogger is that you get to touch a number of lives and share in others joys and struggles. There is a camaraderie that is formed and even though you haven’t met each other in person, you take on an ownership and you care about their lives and their journey. With some of the struggles a number of you have shared this last week, I wanted to give back some inspirational reminders that I have created and to be honest the creation has been more for myself than anyone else…

Perseverance….

The journey requires “perseverance” to get from point A to point B. What could possibly tell the visual story more than a rock climber who is a small red dot on a very large piece of rock slowly making his way up against great odds. He will succeed even when it looks impossible, because of his perseverance.

Faith…

Faith is at the center of all that I am and without it, I am nothing. Life grows and flourishes around that central aspect. Love, family, laughter and living all revolve around this central theme. Each aspect is but an extension of it. Love…put others first because of your love for them. Laughter…don’t take yourself too seriously, enjoy the moment. Live…live life to the fullest as our time here is limited. Family…our core support group. Take care of each other.

Thankfulness…

Greeting each day with a sense of thanksgiving. We are all blessed in many different ways. Do we take the time to realize it and give thanks for it on a daily basis? The blessings we receive come in many different forms and are often very subtle, yet incredibly powerful.

Just trying to focus on some positive elements and to thank you for all of your support. Have a great rest of the week!! Thoughts?
