The Arbor – Featured Art Print

The Arbor

I wanted to keep with a Spring theme this time of year, so I decided to feature an art print I created a few years back called “The Arbor”. I used an abstract watercolor technique creating this scene. This technique uses abstract shapes and subdued color tones creating a clean modern look. This particular wall art print depicts a sidewalk along the side of a picket fence stretching back to where it ends under an arbor. It depicts a scene from Martha’s Vineyard in the springtime. Martha’s Vineyard is an island off the coast of Massachusetts along the eastern seaboard. It is well-known for traditional New England architecture. Thoughts?

Southern California Flower Garden – Excerpts From a Photo Shoot

I wanted to share a photo shoot I did last weekend while we were in Los Angeles at our daughter and son-in-law’s house. They have a lot of mature plants around their house and I usually do a quick photo shoot whenever we visit because something is always in bloom. As usual I wasn’t disappointed. I wanted to share the first capture just to give you an idea how thick and mature their gardens are. This shot was actually taken from a window looking out into what looks like a dense jungle. Just through those bushes is a green carpet of lawn, but from this viewpoint you just see bushes and a few stray lilies.

This next capture is the same lily from the first photo, but from the yard looking into the “undergrowth”. I loved the subtle lighting this single plant was getting.

Using the same technique as last weeks featured print, this week I am highlighting a gazebo that I found on the grounds of the Sharlot Hall Museum located in Prescott, Arizona. The gazebo is located behind a Victorian Home. Thoughts?

The Pavilion By The River Sketched – Featured Art Print

 

The Pavilion By The River Sketched 

This art print is from a photo shoot I did in Rockford, Michigan during the holidays of December 2015. I featured some of the shots in a post early last year. I like the depth of this setting and decided to re-create the scene using a sketching technique, which brings a detailed yet soft look to this art print. I love the native grass going to seed along the walkway and how it frames the path back to the pavilion. Thoughts?

Deer In The Yard – Featured Art Print

Deer In The Yard

For a little bit of that spring feeling, I thought I would feature this capture. What catches my eye every time I come across this shot, is the sheer beauty of the green lawn up against the beginning of a wooded area and oh yes…there just happens to be a deer in the frame staring back at me. I caught this scene on a hike I took in the springtime while I was traversing the wooded hills above the Cedar River in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. The deer caught my movement and just froze. I took a couple of shots before it darted off back into the cover of the woods. Thoughts?
