Hiking Captures from the Archives

As with last weeks post, I have been digging through the archives to find captures that I have not done anything with. That being said, we are jumping back to 2013 in North Bend, Washington. North Bend is on the western side of the Cascade Mountain Range just east of Seattle. The town is nestled in a beautiful valley and is home to numerous hiking trails and some pretty intense ones at that.

Todays captures come from two different trails, the first one is called Little Si and is rated low to intermediate.

HIking – Little Si 1

I miss the lushness of the Pacific Northwest woods…….

Hiking Little Si 2

I love the way the sun was shining through the forest canopy on these moss covered boulders.

Hiking – Little Si 3

The next three captures are from the Twin Falls trail. I have shared numerous shots of the falls, but nothing from the trail to get to them.

Hiking – Twin Falls 1

The trail follows the river winding its way to a lookout of the two falls upstream.

Hiking – Twin Falls 2

Again, the sheer beauty of the forest…..

Hiking – Twin Falls 3

From my perspective going through these archives brought a welcome respite from being sequestered in our home for the foreseeable future. Hope this finds you and yours healthy!! Be well and hope you enjoyed the hike!!

Orchid Blooms to Cheer Up Your Day

Considering the state of affairs on our planet, I thought it would be nice to do a post to visually brighten your day. Being confined to our house there is only so much photography I can do, so this week I started going back through my archive files dating back to 2013. I came across an orchid bloom shoot I did of our neighbors orchids. I started playing with some digital effects on the shoot and narrowed a file of 50 shots down to the attached 5. Enjoy, take care of yourself, family and friends and together we will get through this!!

Somewhere Over The Rainbow

My post this week is four captures for a trip we took last weekend to the Seattle area. Our youngest daughter and her husband both are turning 30 this month and we wanted to help them celebrate. Love going up there as our oldest daughter and her husband live just north of Seattle, so we get to see all of them whenever we go up!

As part of the long weekend, we took a ferry from downtown over to Bainbridge Island for lunch at a restaurant my son-in-law loves. The rain was off and on and I’m not going to lie….it was dang chilly for us Southern California babies. The four of us were sitting inside talking as the ferry lined up to pull into dock. As the ferry turned something outside caught my eye and of course I grabbed my camera and headed out.

This first capture is the town from the front deck as I worked my way around the boat to capture what caught my eye….

Bainbridge Island 1

as I got around to the side deck, I snapped this next capture.

Bainbridge Island 2

The next shot was the front deck to where I was headed and you can see what had caught my eye.

Bainbridge Island 3

I think this last capture says it all….just enough rain and sun for a full rainbow.

Bainbridge Island 4

My best to everyone….stay well!!

Love Each Other

A simple message with a very powerful outcome. I think what we have lost sight of in today’s world is that not two of us have the same opinion on everything. To me, that’s what makes humankind so unique and powerful. We are not all of the same race, gender, nationality, religion, political party, family upbringing, experiences growing up, etc…..I could go on and on. We try to categorize people by these labels and to me that misses the mark. Pick any label and some of us fit into it, but do those same people fit into other categories together…not necessarily. How do we as individuals grow if we aren’t willing to listen and learn from each other?

So to me, this passage from the bible as the last commandment from Jesus to His disciples wasn’t about just the disciples loving each other, but the family of man. It doesn’t mean we have to like each other or even agree with each other on every issue, but at our core is the desire to love and be loved.
