Todays post is of three of my latest prints that I created using a traditional watercolor technique. The setting is the Arno River in Florence, Italy.
The first one is of the Ponte Vecchio, which is a medieval stone arch bridge. It was the only bridge across the Arno River until 1218, to give you a perspective of its age. It is noted for the shops built along it which was common practice on such bridges.
I created the second one from almost the same perspective, but with a man in a kayak on the river. I thought it brought an interesting element to the setting.
The third print is a perspective looking down the river towards the west at the Ponte Santa Trinita (bridge of the Holy Trinity). A bridge has stood at this spot across the Arno River since the 13th century, although it was originally made of wood. The subsequent stone bridge that replaced it was ultimately destroyed during World War II, but was rebuilt in the 1950’s and is what we see today.
Thoughts? As I have said before, everyone reacts to visual art techniques and looks differently, so I am not in the least offended by opinions.
