Two Lighthouses

This week I’m featuring two different lighthouses. One from the Oregon coast and one from Massachusetts (or one from the US west coast and one from the US east coast). I just recently completed the three attached prints using a softer watercolor technique.

The first lighthouse is Heceda Head on the Oregon coastline. This lighthouse sits remotely on a bluff overlooking the ocean to the immediate west. The Pacific Coast Highway that follows the coastline is the access point for this site which does include a caretakers house.

The next two prints are of the West Chop Lighthouse located in Tisbury, Massachusetts (close to Marthas Vineyard).

All three prints are actually “re-do’s” of my original work softening the prints and adding some subtle artistic elements.

Wonderful images, Kirt. Odd that although I live in New England, I’ve seen the lighthouse in Oregon but not the one in Massachusetts. Good seeing them both here.

Thank you very much Darlene!! I am drawn to them for the reasons you see in these prints!! They are great subject matters as well as their typical settings!! Have a great week!

Wow, how cool to see the “east and west” comparison! I’m especially fascinated to see the surroundings in Massachusetts – it’s so soft-looking with the grass and deciduous trees compared to the rugged east coast of Nova Scotia where I lived for a year (in the long-distant past). Your art treatment really suits these images. 🙂

These are all so beautiful in their own ways. I could easily live in wither of those 2 lighthouses for an extended period of time. I love the ruggedness of the Oregon lighthouse, but also the tranquility of the Massachusetts one. 😀

Beautiful work Kirt! Now that’s something we don’t have here … lighthouses! I wish we did. I especially like the first and think it would make wonderful wall art for any lighthouse enthusiast!
