A Week For Thankfulness

This week the United States celebrates Thanksgiving. The time together with family and friends on the specific day makes me pause and think about all of the things to be thankful for. We live in an imperfect world fill with blessings and challenges….some random, some self created. In my opinion, this is the time to take a step back and focus on all the beauty of life as we live it. It’s easy to get caught up in the negativity of the world we live in, being reminded of it daily via news and online access.

I start with being thankful for all of the people in my life that I love and enjoy. Whether it be family or friends. Think about how many people you have come to know and love throughout your life. Be thankful for the love that comes from those relationships as well as the guidance we receive from others experience.

Think about the beauty of the world we live in and how inspiring nature is in its natural state.

Mountain Lake

From that overall view point, I come down to those quiet, peaceful moments with those closest to you albeit a parent, spouse, child or very close friend. In those moments we help each other grow and find peace within.

Beach Tranquility

And that brings me back to my faith and trusting in His faithfulness and being grateful for it.

His Faithfulness

Again, I’m not saying there aren’t issues and challenges we all face daily, but I do believe it’s good to take a step back and think about the people and things that we are blessed with.

Thoughts? As I have said before, everyone reacts to visual art techniques and looks differently, so I am not in the least offended by opinions.

Four Corners Of Apples And Pears – Featured Art Print

This print has a fall feel and look to it, so I use it to say goodbye to Autumn. It seems that as soon as Thanksgiving is over, we are full speed into winter and Christmas. All of the decorations change into a festive winter look and the fall colors are no longer seen.

It was a year ago this last weekend that mother nature called and our daughter gave birth to our first grandchild (granddaughter). Our son-in-law and daughter had hosted their typical large Thanksgiving dinner for family and friends with our daughter not missing a beat being the perfect hostess, even though she was almost upon her due date. The next day, my wife and I went with them to find their Christmas tree, which is always very tall and large. Again my daughter was feeling great and was helping decorate the tree that evening when all of a sudden she stopped, got very quiet and turned to her husband and said; “Ok…it’s happening, we better get going to the hospital”. The next day our granddaughter was born.

Same type of Thanksgiving this year, they hosted their typical large dinner with family and friends plus one (she was in her element). Did the Christmas Tree shopping with them on Friday (she was in awe). Started decorating it that night (she was mesmerized and helping with ornaments). Then they hosted her 1st Birthday celebration with friends and family the next day (she was having a great time with the other kids). Happy Thanksgiving and Happy Birthday!

Hope your Thanksgiving was great!!

Rest, Contemplate and be Thankful

With Thanksgiving this Thursday in the United States it marks a time for me to reflect back on the year and really take in all those things that have blessed my life. We all have our stories, issues, setbacks and concerns, but for me I like to take the time to rest (mentally), contemplate and be thankful. That may be a brief second, a few minutes or a quiet place with a leisurely glass of wine. Whatever that place and time is, when I see this print, this is the type of place I think of. What could be more inviting then sitting in one of these Adirondack chairs, gazing out over a valley under a big old oak tree.

May your Holiday Season be filled with Peace and Joy, may you enjoy family and friends. For these things, I am most thankful.
