Inspirational Quotes Day Two – Quote Challenge

Last week, I was challenged to a “quotes quota” by my friend Melinda with purpleslobinrecovery. I love her willingness to share her life and her openness with all of her struggles. If you are not familiar with her blog, I strongly encourage dropping by!! Thank you Melinda for the nomination!!

The rules of the challenge are as follows:

  • Thank the blogger, who nominated you.
  • Publish 3 quotes on 3 consecutive days in your blog. It can be your own, or from a book, movie or from anyone who inspires you.
  • Nominate 3 more bloggers to carry on this endeavor.

What rule doesn’t need tweaked occasionally, so as not to put anyone on the spot, I will adhere to #1 & #2 and for #3, I will list three blogs each day that I find “Inspirational” to go with the theme of my three day quote challenge. ( I find so many of the blogs I follow fit in that category, that I am literally pulling three names from a hat…ok plastic bowl actually…at random to recognize each day. )

Day Two: Quotes from the New Testament:

Matthew 11:28 (NCV)

Whenever I am exhausted (and I don’t mean physically), this verse gives me pause to stop and lean on Him.

1 Corinthians 13: 4-8 (NCV)

Such a great reminder of what love truly is and isn’t.

Matthew 17: 20 (NIV)

Such an encouraging passage to remind us that anything is possible if we have faith.

The three blogs I am highlighting today:

Day One: Quotes from the Old Testament:

Proverbs 3: 5-7 (NCV)

This one rings home with me….we think we know it all, but we don’t. How many times has something come into your life you never imaged and it completes a dream or a need?

Psalm 118:24 (NKJV)

Each day is a new wonder and every time the sun comes up, a new opportunity is given to each of us.

Psalm 23:1-6 (NKJ)

Bottom line, He is always with us to comfort and guide us no matter what the circumstances are.

Do Not Fear – Featured Art Print

This week, I wanted to feature another new print in my Inspiration Gallery titled: Do Not Fear. This art print is from my Abstract Watercolor Gallery with an overlay of a quote from Isaiah 41:10 which reads: “So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”

This verse was written for the struggles the Israelites were going through as described in the Old Testament, but just as pertinent today as we each face some type of struggle or issue.

I came across this bible verse as a reference in something I was reading and I liked it as a reminder that we are not alone on our life journey. My attempt is to create visual reminders that make us stop and pause to reflect as we get ourselves too stressed or worried about situations in our life.

Again, as I mentioned last week, the process for these inspiration art prints happens in various ways. With  this particular print, the verse was stuck in my head and I was searching for the right piece of art to put it on. Without coming across it, this art print popped into my head and I remember thinking; “An abstract print?’ Hmm…not sure.” But, not one to ignore that little voice in my head, I pulled it up and knew it was right. It may not be obvious and this may sound like a justification for that little voice, but whatever….here goes: The print has an edgy look and feel to it because of the abstract shapes of the barren tree branches. A little chaotic and harsh, yet the purple pulls it together and softens it up. The exact situation we find ourselves in as we seek peace from the struggles of our daily lives. Thoughts?

I invite you to visit my Inspiration Gallery to enjoy this print and many more.

Guide Me Back – A Featured Art Print

I want to feature an art print that was born as a result of my blog a couple of weeks ago. The art print is titled ” Guide Me Back” from my Inspiration Gallery. You might recognize it as “A Path In The Forest” from my Landscape Oil Gallery.

Guide Me Back

Wall Art Print: Guide Me Back

Let me back up for a minute….one of my more popular Inspiration Gallery prints is titled “Life is a Journey”.

Wall Art Print: Life is a Journey

Wall Art Print: Life is a Journey

It depicts a green forest and hiking trail with a personal thought and prayer of mine. A client who has that print and uses it as a daily reminder also reads my blog. They saw “A Path In The Forest” and contacted me asking if I would put my “Life is a Journey” verbiage on that print for them. I do a lot of custom work with that particular gallery (usually different bible versions of verses I have on my art prints) and said, “No problem”. I really liked the way it turned out and decided to add it to the gallery. Thoughts?

I invite you to visit my Inspiration Gallery to enjoy this print and many more.

Comfort – Featured Art Print

“Comfort” is an art print I am featuring from my Inspiration Gallery. The art print is done with a quote from 2 Corinthians 1:3-4 as an overlay on a photograph I have done using a sepia tone of a rural farm nestled in the backcountry of Oregon.

Comfort

Comfort

The creation of this inspirational print was a request by a client. They have purchased a few of my inspirational prints and recently contacted me with a desire for a print that would inspire them and be a daily reminder concerning a situation in their family. She was looking for a biblical quote that supported the concept of being there for a hurting family member, to help lift them up and at the same time support their own personal grief. The other part of the request was a farm related photograph.

Not one to back from a challenge, I started racking my brains and researching key words in a bible reference section. I know a lot of people can quote verses like they are always on the tip of their tongue…well, not this guy…I can barely quote what I had for dinner the night before. I remember concept and can tell you philosophically what is what, but to be able to say “Yes, that would be in the book of…chapter…verse…” not from me in this lifetime. My brain just isn’t wired that way. So the search was on.

I found a verse that fit the bill. So the next step was the print. I seek to make sure that the biblical quote I am using is a good marriage with the art print I put it on. In this particular case, when I settled on the verse I wanted to share, I went searching for the correct print. This particular print stood out in my head as I had just worked with it recently. The next step was the font style and placement. That always requires a lot of trial and error and ultimately what I think looks like the best fit. I am pleased with the way this print came together.

The setting for this particular art print is a farm in the backcountry of Oregon. I came across it when my wife and I were doing a photo shoot of covered bridges in Oregon. The farm was nestled in a field surround by a forest. It was early morning with light rain on and off. The scene was very peaceful with a wisp of low clouds or fog drifting down the hill. I liked the sepia finish to the scene as it gives it a time tested look and for this print doesn’t distract from the bible verse, but allows it to take center stage. Thoughts?

I have my inspiration prints in two locations. I opened an Etsy shop to utilize a feature they have that I wanted to test before adding it onto my website and that is the ability to download a print, keep it in electronic form for background on computers as an example or print at your own convenience. For smaller prints I thought it was a great idea for international sales as there aren’t any postage costs. Also on Etsy, I am offering these prints in an 8X10 size pre-matted with white matting and backer board ready for an 11X14 frame.

On my main gallery website, I offer the same prints in four different sizes all giclee prints on professional grade gloss photo paper.

Etsy: 8X10 downloadable version of this print.

Etsy: 8X10 pre-matted and mounted for 11X14 frame.

My web site: four sizes to choose from.

Joy and Peace – Featured Art Print

As I have mentioned and discussed on this blog, I do custom work for clients either tweaking one of my existing prints (Bougainvillea post as an example) or create a new print for a specific request. A client contacted me a couple of weeks ago about one of my prints in the Inspiration Gallery titled: Joy and Peace. I created this print by using an art print from my Floral Still/Life Gallery of orange poppies (featured in a prior blog) with a prayer of mine as an overlay. Attached is a copy of the print I am talking about.

What the client wanted was the same thing only with red poppies. They also asked to have the verbiage changed from joy and peace to peace and joy. No problem, I responded. I have attached the result of that request below.

In changing the poppies to red, the current color glow around the flowers just didn’t work. I chose purple for a couple of reasons; one being that it looked good with the red and the client loved it and the other is that it does carry some symbolism within the church.

Whenever I finish a custom print, I always study it next to the original to see if what I had done improved the original enough to replace it. In looking at both of these prints, I frankly was at a loss. I liked the red a lot, but also liked the orange, so I present them both to you. Thoughts?

I invite you to come into the gallery to view the addition of art prints to the collection in the Inspiration Gallery.
