Dainty Red Series – Featured Art Prints Part Two

As a follow-up to last weeks post “Dainty Red Series – Part One” , I wanted to show where that series of prints took me next.

For my “Inspiration Gallery”, I use existing prints I have created and marry them with words of inspiration, motivation, prayers or Bible verses. Actually it truly is the other way around, I usually come up with the verbiage first and then figure out a photograph or print that best highlights the words. I featured the first print during the Easter Season last spring. I was working with this Bible verse and this print come into view as perfect for a very direct simple message.

Love Each Other Red Single Stem art print featured on my blog last April.

With this message in mind, I wanted the same simplistic look with just enough spacing to keep the message from getting lost, thus the double stem.

Being on a roll as they say, this verbiage seemed perfect to use the single stem again. All three were created one right after the other as the verses I was working with fit perfectly with these simple prints.

Inspirational Quotes Day Two – Quote Challenge

Last week, I was challenged to a “quotes quota” by my friend Melinda with purpleslobinrecovery. I love her willingness to share her life and her openness with all of her struggles. If you are not familiar with her blog, I strongly encourage dropping by!! Thank you Melinda for the nomination!!

The rules of the challenge are as follows:

  • Thank the blogger, who nominated you.
  • Publish 3 quotes on 3 consecutive days in your blog. It can be your own, or from a book, movie or from anyone who inspires you.
  • Nominate 3 more bloggers to carry on this endeavor.

What rule doesn’t need tweaked occasionally, so as not to put anyone on the spot, I will adhere to #1 & #2 and for #3, I will list three blogs each day that I find “Inspirational” to go with the theme of my three day quote challenge. ( I find so many of the blogs I follow fit in that category, that I am literally pulling three names from a hat…ok plastic bowl actually…at random to recognize each day. )

Day Two: Quotes from the New Testament:

Matthew 11:28 (NCV)

Whenever I am exhausted (and I don’t mean physically), this verse gives me pause to stop and lean on Him.

1 Corinthians 13: 4-8 (NCV)

Such a great reminder of what love truly is and isn’t.

Matthew 17: 20 (NIV)

Such an encouraging passage to remind us that anything is possible if we have faith.

The three blogs I am highlighting today:

Day One: Quotes from the Old Testament:

Proverbs 3: 5-7 (NCV)

This one rings home with me….we think we know it all, but we don’t. How many times has something come into your life you never imaged and it completes a dream or a need?

Psalm 118:24 (NKJV)

Each day is a new wonder and every time the sun comes up, a new opportunity is given to each of us.

Psalm 23:1-6 (NKJ)

Bottom line, He is always with us to comfort and guide us no matter what the circumstances are.

Guide Me Back – A Featured Art Print

I want to feature an art print that was born as a result of my blog a couple of weeks ago. The art print is titled ” Guide Me Back” from my Inspiration Gallery. You might recognize it as “A Path In The Forest” from my Landscape Oil Gallery.

Guide Me Back

Wall Art Print: Guide Me Back

Let me back up for a minute….one of my more popular Inspiration Gallery prints is titled “Life is a Journey”.

Wall Art Print: Life is a Journey

Wall Art Print: Life is a Journey

It depicts a green forest and hiking trail with a personal thought and prayer of mine. A client who has that print and uses it as a daily reminder also reads my blog. They saw “A Path In The Forest” and contacted me asking if I would put my “Life is a Journey” verbiage on that print for them. I do a lot of custom work with that particular gallery (usually different bible versions of verses I have on my art prints) and said, “No problem”. I really liked the way it turned out and decided to add it to the gallery. Thoughts?

I invite you to visit my Inspiration Gallery to enjoy this print and many more.

God’s Grace – Featured Inspiration Art Print

Another art print recently added to the collection in my Inspiration Gallery is the attached “God’s Grace”. This is an art print done with the words as an overlay on an art print I had done using an abstract watercolor technique of Christ carrying his cross in front of an old Spanish Mission. As a Christian artist, I seek to make sure that the thought I am using is a good marriage with the art print I put it on. In this particular case, it was the art print that dictated the words. Using a statue in the yard of a chapel located in Issaquah, Washington as an inspiration, I created this watercolor. Due to the subject matter, it seemed obvious that it would make a good fit in the Inspiration Gallery, but with what words on it. I literally stared at this print for about 15 minutes really thinking about what it said to me. The words came, font was determined and positioning fell right into place. Once the words came to me, the rest went much quicker than most of the other prints. I liked the way it turned out with the subject matter, style of painting and the words.

The Day the Lord Has Made – Inspirational Art Print

Always updating and adding new items to each of my galleries, this week I am featuring one of my newer prints added to the collection in my Inspiration Gallery. “The Day The Lord Has Made” is an art print done with Psalm 118:24 as an overlay on a photograph I took in Butchart Gardens of a pond.

As a Christian artist, I seek to make sure that the Bible quote I am using is a good marriage with the art print I put it on. In this particular case, the verse was resonating with me over and over. Always trying to stay in the moment and appreciate the blessings we have each day, this verse just kept popping into my head.  I felt moved to put it on a print, but wasn’t clear which print. I literally went through my entire gallery pulling up a variety of prints to see what worked. As soon as I came across this pond print from Butchart Gardens, I knew this was the right one. For anyone not familiar with Butchart Gardens, it is located just outside of Victoria, British Columbia on Vancouver Island. Incredible gardens representing the best the Great Pacific Northwest has to offer in plants, flowers and scenery. The next step in the process is picking the font and finding the correct position on the picture. After reviewing more fonts than you want to know, the positioning was obvious to me as you can see on this final image.

Blessings

I was enjoying my morning cup of coffee on the patio the other day. It was the start of a beautiful day, the morning sun felt warm, the birds were chirping… a truly ideal setting. I love this time in the morning to pray and mediate and soak it all in. I ask for guidance through the day and for his will to be done through me as well as within me. That morning I was praying about blessings and thanking him for all the blessings in my life…great wife, three lovely daughters, great friends and the list goes on. I am truly a blessed man. As I have been struggling with a major change in our lives, I have been particularly tuned into daily blessings. Note my comment above; “and the list goes”….when you truly think about the actual blessings we each receive daily and in our lives, they are numerous. It seems to me that those times in our lives when we are in a life changing situation, we grow spiritually from it if we allow ourselves to seek guidance and keep the faith. On this articular morning, I was praying to have God help me recognize a blessing from that day….I wanted awareness so I would not overlook it. As the prayer processed in my head, I was suddenly overwhelmed with the spirit touching me and saying….this is the blessing you wanted to recognize today…it is your life today…it is your life in this moment…rejoice and celebrate. I knew the voice wasn’t just talking about the garden, birds and morning sun, but all of it and my life in each moment. We spend so much of our time dwelling on the past and stewing about the future. Intellectually I try and stay in the moment, but as a human…not always doing a great job. As I relate this simple story, I get moved all over again…enjoy the “now” whatever it is in your life…yesterday is gone and tomorrow will take care  of itself.
