Fountain Urns

This week, I’ve attached three art prints I created from a photo shoot in a winery located on the hills above Napa Valley in California. The winery grounds were very beautiful and all items of landscaping design (such as these urns) were imported from Europe. From different points on the estate there are tables and chairs that took in the view of the valley below. Everything is elegant and done to allow you to enjoy the beauty of the winery while you enjoy their wine. The fountain itself is designed to have water quietly cascade down the sides of the urns and effectively creates a peaceful, serene setting!

Old World Fountain Urns – Featured Art Prints

This week I am featuring two art prints from my Gardens Gallery of large urns that I found in a garden fountain. I found the fountain at a Napa Valley winery, just outside of the tasting room. The fountain was quite large and had a distinct old world charm to it. Doing some research and questioning, I found out that the owner had these urns custom-made and shipped in from another country for that specific look. They sit on platforms in a shallow pool of water, with water bubbling up through the middle and coming out the top…just subtle enough to lend that soft bubbling water sound as it washes over the top rim and trickles down the outside of the urns.

With this as an inspiration for a couple of art prints, I chose a technique called gothic to recreate that old world painted look for these urns. This technique uses bold brush strokes and earthen colors giving the prints warm, aged tones.

“Fountain Urns” Cropping an Art Print

I do a fair amount of custom work with my art prints. The other day, one of my clients contacted me with a request that I wanted to share. Her request concerned a series of art prints she purchased last year. One of the prints is the first one I am attaching. The scene is a fountain of large urns located on the estate of the Kuleto Winery in Northern California. The art print is done in an impasto style of oil painting which uses large dramatic brush strokes. The print is in a landscape format (longer width than height) and after months of looking at her print grouping, she realized it would look better with one of her prints being in a portrait mode instead of the landscape. The print in question is the one below.

So her request was “Can I have this in portrait format?”  My response was no problem….it will create totally different prints, but here is what I can do…

and the other print becomes……

Fountain Urn 3

By just cropping the art print differently, I have not only created two new art prints, but also given her the ability to keep a theme together on her wall and still mix/match landscape and portrait mode in her presentation.
