Variety of Styles for Orchid Blooms

This week I’m featuring four art prints of orchid blooms that I have created using totally different styles. I like each and everyone, but for entirely different reasons. I’m curious for feedback regarding your impressions.

The first one I created using a very shape defined approach as it relates to shape and outlines.

The Beauty Of An Orchid

The second one I created using a sketching technique.

For the third one, I used a technique where the watercolor is brushed like puffy clouds and then the drawn blooms are used as an overlay.

The fourth and final one, I created using a pastel chalk technique.

Thanks for stopping by Annette and for your feedback….much appreciated!! I had fun creating all of them and like each for different reasons. I probably lean in the direction of the first one for some of the same reasons you gave!! Have a great week!!

I had to make two passes, Kirt. They are all lovely. In the first pass, I narrowed it down to the sketch and the pastels. That was a much harder choice, but I think I like the sketch the best.

They’re all so different, Kirt. What fun to play around with the same image and come up with four different looks. My favorites are the sketch and pastels simply because I like the softness (in general) over bold color. But all are eye-catchy!

Thanks for your feedback Diana! I always have so much fun (time consuming, but fun) taking an image and playing with different styles. That process usually brings it down to 1 or 2 top presentations, but occasionally I come up with what I have here….multiple looks that each have their own appeal. Have a great rest of your week!!

Kirt, they are all excellent, but I like the bold lines on the 1st and 3rd ones and on the 2nd and 4th ones, I like the way the background and flowers blend into one another (if that makes sense)
