October is the time of year in Southern California where roses hit their seasonal stride with an incredible showing of blooms. I decided to feature three art prints that were inspired by one of my favorite roses, the Candy Cane Rose.
The first one is an abstract watercolor rendition of one of the blooms.

The second and third prints are from the same plant and on these I used a slightly more subtle abstract watercolor technique.

I love candy cane roses and your paintings are perfect! I have some that are red and yellow stripped. Also a nice combination
I’ll bet the combo of colors on yours is stunning!! Thanks for stopping by Darlene and commenting!! Much appreciated!!
These are beautiful, Kirt. I really like the second one. I particularly like the way you brought out the lighting on the leaf.
Good eye, Dan!! I appreciate the feedback! Thanks for stopping by!!
Spent yesterday hiking in the Olympic National Park. We start our drive back to LA tomorrow….got some good pics I will be sharing on future posts…perfect two fall weeks in the Pacific Northwest …beautiful colors…clear days and rainy days…great break from LA!!
I love that park. So many shades of green, even I could see them 😏
All the times we have been up here…first time we went there. But it sure won’t be the last time!!
Did you drive around or take the ferry over?
Ferry over and drove back around on eastern side coming home as we missed ferry🤪🤪😎
Lovely images and roses Kirt. Are the roses named for their color or aroma?
Color…so pretty! I love roses!! Hope all is well with you!!
Yes thanks. All is well and I love roses come too!
Awesome and art at its best Kirt. A wonderful combination of colors. Too good.
Thanks! A bright beautiful series of prints to brighten up the day!
Yes so true Kirt. Welcome ❤️❤️🌹🌹🌹🌹
These are beautiful! I love what you did with each one, it really brings out the detail of each and shows their true beauty.
Thank you Tiffany! I appreciate your feedback and for stopping by!! Have a great week!!
Amazing paintings – I have Candy Cane roses – they are so pretty and delicate. I have found though – they do not tolerate being cut and put into vases – they don’t last very long. But they are so beautiful!
I love their look. I hadn’t thought about it until your comment, but we slack in cutting any of our rose blooms in vases. I am one of those that stays right on top of cutting spent blooms down to next 5 leaf branch to encourage more blooms. Thanks for stopping by and for your input….much appreciated!!
Beautiful.
Thank you very much!! Have a great week!!
Very nicely done Kirt! One of my favorite roses as well!
