On a personal note, my father passed away peacefully last week after a long battle with dementia. He was just a few months shy of turning 94. He was a strong man of faith and on the onset of the disease, he knew the path he was headed down, but he never let it get him down. He was never angry or frustrated as his situation progressed. I wanted to post one of my inspirational prints as a dedication to him and his life and the way he lived and raised myself and my other three siblings. This bible verse and this print shouted out to me as it epitomizes the way he lived his life. Thank you dad for all the wonderful memories and for setting an example I try to live up to daily with my wife and children and now grandchildren.
Kirt, I am so sorry to hear your very sad news. My thoughts are with you and your family xx
Thank you very much Gill! Much appreciated! Have a great week!
My sincere condolences, Kirt. But what a wonderful example and great memories he has left you. This is by far my favourite bible verse and a perfect sentiment for your father.
The verse so sums up the power of love and I thought it summed up his approach to life as a husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. We were blessed with great parents and my dad was such a great role model as all of the above! Thanks for your well wishes! Have a great week Darlene!
I am sorry for your loss, Kirt. That’s a beautiful tribute to your dad. And, as it says at the end, love never does end. I’m sure you will remember him often and forever.
Amen, Dan! We were blessed with great parents (our Mom passed at 60)….the verse summarizes his love as a husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. Have a great week!
Thatβs almost the inverse of my situation, Kirt. My dad died at 60. Mom passed away at 92. I remember them both.
Exact opposite and it usually is the man who passes earlier. My Mom passed of cancer which was prevalent in her family and my dad’s parents both lived to 92…one with dementia and the other sharp as a tack…go figure! Thanks again, Dan! Iowa bound we are next week….
I hope you get better weather than they had this week.
Forecast looks like snow showers …we go back on the 6 and return to la on the 11th
My heart goes out to you Kirt. Sending prayers of comfort and peace ππΌπ¦π
Thank you very Michelle. We were blessed to have him as a father. Have a great week.
You too Kirt. I will continue to lift you up in my prayers! π
My sincere condolences! π
Thank you very much! It is a blessing after all this time and the verse summarizes his life as a father, grandfather and great grandfather.
Sending love LOVE and condolences. … plus I need your new address. You can p/m on f/b. Love you dear cousin.
Thank you very much Deb!! We were blessed with great parents and for me dad was a great example of a loving hands on father and grandfather!! Love you too cuz!! Will send our address.
Kirt, my sympathies on losing your father. These verses are a wonderful legacy he left!!
Amen and thank you very much!!!
My pleasure!
Praying for your comfort and peace…sounds like he was a wonderful father. God is faithful!
He was a great father….we were blessed with great parents and as a father and grandfather I couldnβt have asked for better examples of love for family. Thank you and yes God is very faithful and I thank him for his faithfulness continually. Have a blessed week and thank you!
That’s beautiful Kirt. You will have your Dad’s love with you forever. Praying for you and your family. May God’s comfort and love wrap around you all.
Thank you very much Ryan. Iβm thankful to God for taking him home. We were blessed with great parents, our mom passed at 60….a few years after that my dad married a family friend and our two families have always been close so that has been great that he was able to share the rest of his years in another loving relationship. Thanks for your prayers.
Kirt my heartfelt condolences to you as your whole family. He indeed sounds like an inspiration dealing with his diagnosis and subsequent progression with grace. Your tribute is a beautiful one and the verse a favourite of mine as well.
Thanks Sue…I blogged this print back in 2015 and I remember you making that same comment. π I love the verse also and it just fit as a celebration of his life.
You have a very good memory Kirt. Again my sympathy to you.
Beautiful quote, image, and tribute Kirt. My condolences. Clearly, his love lives on with you and your family.
Thank you Brad…I was blessed with great parents….
A wonderful blessing indeed.
I’m so sorry for your loss, Kirt. Your father sounds like a wonderful man. Dementia is such a cruel disease, for the sufferers and their families. Wishing you and your family peace, and the comfort of happy memories.
Thank you very much Diane…much appreciated!
So very sorry for your loss. He sounds like a wonderful man, who led a wonderful life. Peace.
I was blessed with a beautiful, loving example of being a good husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. My parents were a great example of love in all aspects (our mom passed at 60). Thank you very much! Have a great week!
I am sincerely happy for the life you have led and the one you are leading.
So sorry your dad had to go through this illness. My mom also had dementia for a couple years before she died at 90. I have wonderful memories of her and will always be grateful for her, just as you are for your dad.
It’s a tough one to watch as it takes over a loved one….just glad he is in a better place! Thanks for your comment and for stopping by!
A beautiful tribute to your father, Kurt. My thoughts and prayers are with you.
Thank you very much Amy!!
I am sorry to hear of your loss and hope happy memories will help to comfort you during this difficult time. The poem is beautiful.

β€ So happy that you had such a lovely relationship with him. Family is so important.
Agreed!
Oh, Kirt. My heart is full of love and compassion for you and your family. It is a hard road to travel…dementia. I am so happy for you that your Dad was able to navigate this disease with such honor. 94 years is a good long time and it sounds like he taught by example…and I know in my heart that his goodness is passed to you and that you are a kind and compassionate role model for all you come in contact with. I am so sorry for your loss. I know your Dad will always be with you. Sending my condolences and lots of love energy β€
Lorrie….thank you for your kind words. He did teach by example as a very loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather!! He is βhomeβ and I take great comfort in that. Thank you very much….we head back to Iowa this week as a large family to celebrate his life!
Oh, Kirt. I imagine that will be one heck of a celebration! Safe travels. Sweet Blessings.
Dementia is such a cruel condition and so tough for the family. I faced it with my mom in her 90’s. Your upcoming gathering with all your family will be a healthy healing. So sorry for your loss.
Thank you for kind words. Itβs a large family and will be good to all be together for a few days! As you experienced it is a very cruel disease.
