Lighthouse and Sailboat in Abstract Sunset

With the post from last week, I used a desert sunset with saguaro cacti that I created using the same technique that I used originally with these two art prints. Using a few of the filters on Photoshop, I originally created a background where the top half of the picture was sky and the bottom half of the picture was ocean. I used the gradient filter to take the sky and the ocean from light to dark at the horizon line. I then drew the lighthouse and sailboat and filled them with black to look like a silhouette against the background. The look is very abstract and the simplicity with the colors creates a unique look.

Thanks Darlene…it was one of those things that just popped into my head and then I had to figure out how to recreate what I was visualizing. I’m pleased with the final results!

These look pretty cool, Kirt. I like them both, but I like the lighthouse better, as I feel I’m being moved from left to right, which is comfortable somehow. I like the colors a lot.

Thanks Dan…that one was my first and I had this visual hanging in my head for a couple of days before I actually created the print. I’m really happy with the way it turned out!

Thanks Nancy…it was one of those things that just popped into my head and I was motivated to recreate what I was visualizing…ok…I was obsessed with creating the visual print I was picturing in my head….a fair amount of trial and error and along the way I learned some new techniques…thanks for the feedback.
