A couple of weekends ago, we had an opportunity to visit the Phoenix Desert Botanical Garden at night. There was an art exhibit my wife wanted to see. I didn’t go with the intent of photography, but I always have my camera. Had I thought about it ahead of time, I probably would have come more prepared. That said, I have attached four shots from that night. Having never visited the garden at night, I didn’t realize just how beautiful it was with the night lighting. Had I intended to do night shooting, I would have brought my tripod and spent time adjusting the aperture and speed to get the type of shot I wanted. It was very crowded with people that evening and when I realized I wanted to take some shots, I grabbed a few on the run if you will…
Thoughts?
The soft night lighting is very enchanting. Well done Kirt.
Thank you very much Brad!!
These are stunning photos Kirt.
Thanks Dan….I almost didn’t share them.
Why? I like night photos with almost random elements lit up. I have one that I took shining a tactical flashlight up into an bare Oak tree in January that I really like. There’s something unexpected about those photos.
I love night shots and like the overall look of these, but I know enough to know I could have gotten better shots technically if I had my tripod, etc..just me being me!! Thanks again!!
Beautiful Kirt 😀
Thank you very much Irene!
It’s very beautiful at night, Kirt, wonderful photos.
Thanks Jet…it was perfect evening as it is starting to get hot here in the desert and the nights are wonderful!!
They really are lovely shots, Kirt. I especially like the third one — interesting to see the light focusing upward on the trees, rather than shining down on them. 😀 Hugs.
The landscape lighting her is all positioned that way…we have the same thing in our backyard…creates a unique look.
Stunning. I love the effects of street lights on trees.
Thank you very much!!
No matter what , Kirt, your photography is always A #1!
My fave are the white flowers.
Thank you very much….your gift is you brighten others lives with your feedback, humor and sharing!!!! Keep the faith and keep after it!!
Welcome. Wow! Thank you!!
Night photography is something I am trying to learn more about Kirt. Our fairy penguin photos were not as great as I hoped but I guess it’s all a learning experience. Looks like you got some great shots for not being ‘prepared’. 🙂
Thanks Sue😎
Beautiful photos!
Thank you very much Michelle!!
You’re welcome Kirt!
I have not been to the Desert Botanical since last spring! I went with a blogging friend. Then the year before that sweet, sweet man and I went to see Chihuly.
Even though you did not intend to take photos… these came out quite nicely!
We hadn’t been for awhile and have never been there at night….fabulous place!! Thanks for stopping by Nancy!!
The shots you’ve shared here Kirt are indeed precious. True for where I live also, Northern Arizona (on the Western side), the flora is unique… to say the least. I’d also recommend the Sonoran Desert Museum in Tucson and a ‘hearty Thank You’ for your very kind support to what I submit as well.
